Technical Data Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst with a strong background in Financial Services, data governance, and metadata management. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and technology partners to gather and document requirements related to data governance and metadata management initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data cataloging, data lineage, data dictionaries, and business glossaries, along with strong Python and SQL skills to analyze and manage enterprise data. Experience working with Snowflake and Databricks will be considered a strong asset.

This position requires excellent analytical skills, the ability to anticipate issues, troubleshoot production problems, and deliver solutions that make data accessible, reliable, and meaningful across the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work closely with business users and domain teams to understand requirements and document them using appropriate tools.
    • Anticipate user needs and recommend solutions or alternative approaches.
    • Gather and document both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Solution Development & Implementation
    • Collaborate with development teams to design, build, and test data governance solutions.
    • Support the implementation of metadata management tools and data governance frameworks.
    • Data Governance & Quality
      • Support governance activities related to:
        • Data Cataloging
        • Data Lineage
        • Business Glossaries
        • Data Dictionaries
      • Perform quality control and validation of data in SQL and Snowflake environments.
      • Standardize and maintain data assets to ensure consistency and accuracy.
    • Issue Management & Support
      • Track issues and manage them from initial identification through production deployment.
      • Handle enhancement requests and production support issues.
      • Work across multiple teams while managing priorities effectively.
  • Communication & Reporting
    • Maintain active communication with stakeholders regarding deliverables and project status.
    • Provide regular updates and ensure alignment across business and technical teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in Financial Services is required.
  • Experience working within a Sell-Side Bank environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and data mining.
  • Experience with metadata management tools, including:
    • Data Catalog
    • Data Lineage
    • Data Dictionaries
    • Business Glossaries
  • Familiarity with Snowflake and Databricks is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Experience using JIRA and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience supporting applications and managing production issues.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting processes is beneficial.
